V2 Star Prairie Nest Box Prototype

We’ve long dreamed of a sexier version of the Star Prairie Nest Box. This patented, nest box prototype is constructed like a cooler — molded of plastic and filled with insulation. It offers all of the functionality of our original nest box. Plus, it features a sleek style, is lighter in weight, has a more convenient height-adjustment mechanism, and can be mass produced.

Pole mounting and an adjustable-height support help keep birds and caretakers safe.

Secured to readily available 3/4-inch pipe, the nest box prototype can be properly positioned for nesting and easily lowered to safe monitoring and maintenance heights. Pipe mounting also helps prevent predator attacks.

Integrated entrance panel storage makes it easy to ward off unwanted guests.

During non-breeding season, the entrance panel slides into internal channels — eliminating the nesting cavity and preventing rodent infestation.

Because birds come in different sizes, so do the nest box entryways.

Entrance panels come with 1-3/8″ x 2-1/4″ oval holes for eastern bluebirds or 1-9/16″ round holes for mountain and western bluebirds. Solid entrance panels also can be used to create custom openings for many other species.

Our ventilated pin unlocks a top-down view without ruffling any feathers.

Unlike birdhouses with hinged doors, all sidewalls stay in place when monitoring Star Prairie Nest Box Prototypes. This feature helps prevent eggs or hatchlings from falling out and avoids disruption of nest materials. Plus, the ventilated pin promotes cooling airflow into the nesting cavity.

The patented V2 Prototype may be even better than our original Star Prairie Nest Box.

But, manufacturing molds require a significant investment. Since it will be more economical to produce, however, we believe this solution may be revolutionary.

Currently, we are considering crowdfunding or private backing to help launch the V2 Star Prairie Nest Box.
